I made some homemade mac and cheese and it is the go to food for me. When i make it, it brings right back to Conshohocken in my mom's kitchen. yummy! More on that at a later date. :) I also started my crafting of my Pinterest projects that i pin obsessively. What is Pinterest without actually doing the stuff we pin on there right. So project one for me was wine corks and ruler project. I made them and now they hang in my kitchen so i can hang anything i want on them. LOVE THEM!!
So how did i make these little nuggets you ask. WELL, a ruler or yard stick which ever size you want it to be or have in your house. Corks duh! :), hot glue gun, material around you house and i used a pop top from a soup can for the back to hang. Now onto the fun part. :) I cut my material so it would wrap around my ruler to fit. This material does two things protects my wall from the ruler potentially scratching it and it make it look pretty. if you don't want to use the material feel free not to
I used the hot glue to do this with. So easy. :) The next thing is the corks i laid out all the corks i had. WOW, i drink to much wine is what i am thinking right now! haha oh well i am reusing right. :) i picked the ones that i liked the best and had some wine names and pictures on them to keep them interesting looking when there is nothing hanging on them.
I used 15 corks for the size of the ruler. i played with the pattern of the corks till i liked what it looked like. i did take a picture of the corks in case something (dog) or someone (roommate) knocked them out of the order i wanted them in. :) Then i began to hot glue them down. This process was not hard just had to hold each cork in place for a few till it started to dry and there was no movement of the corks.
As you can see i put hot glue on the back of the ruler where the material has a seam and a little bit on the side of the first cork. This will hold it to the ruler and also it connects the corks to each other and makes it stronger.
Then away we go and i just worked my way through the corks that i picked out.
They are now all hot glued to the ruler and each other as you can see.
Then i took a pop top from a soup can, just because it is bigger then a soda can one and hot glued it to the back at the top of the ruler.
Ok we are ready to hang and then hang all the stuff we lose in our kitchens to it. :)
Simple and easy to do!!! i did find some really cute push pins at Michael's on one of the many trips there (need the flyer card Kristen) :) Now there is a reason to drink more wine if these projects are this easy with the wine corks. Alright back to Mac and cheese!!!
Enjoy......................because it is what it is!
